S/Sgt Aub Christie

Aub enlisted in the A.I.F in Perth, on the 4 January 1940.
He was part of a Special Mobile Dental Unit, comprised of two Dentists, two Dental Technicians and an Orderly, and attached to various Regiments.
In April 1941 he was among 1500 men aboard a Freighter in Port Piraeus, Greece, but because of heavy bombardment, the ship was redirected to Alexandria, and it was here Tom was assigned to the 2/5 Australian General Hospital.
From this camp, (Kilo 89) the Unit was posted to Eritrea, and after about an eight months tour, was then posted to New Guinea, to establish a hospital at Bootless Bay.
He was promoted to Sergeant, and later to Staff Sergeant. In New Guinea, Aub, among others, developed skin problems, and was transferred back to Sydney.
Aub was discharged on 2nd October 1945
