Valerie was born in 1922 at Rosslyn Park South Australia, and later pursued a career in the nursing profession
After the outbreak of World War 2, when there was an urgent appeal for nursing personnel, Valerie answered this call and on the 24 September 1942 enlisted in the Australian Army Medical Corps. After her initial training period, Valerie was attached to the 2/5 Australian General Hospital.
This 1,200 bed Hospital Unit was to see service in five different theatres of conflict.
Valerie was discharged from the services on the 29 May 1946, having served her country with honour and dignity.
